Jessica Troxler, MSW, LCSW, LCADC
Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in New Jersey
Hi, I’m Jessica Troxler ~ I believe that it’s important to not overshare with clients and at the same time share a little about myself to start building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
I began my professional career as a biology major and decided to switch to psychology. Regardless of my major, I knew that I always wanted to be in a helping profession and to make a positive difference in other people’s lives. I received my Master’s in Clinical Social Work with a specialization in addiction counseling from Rutgers University in 2019. I have struggled with my own mental health issues in the past and have been in your shoes as a client. I’ve also had loved ones who have struggled with mental health and addiction. My own experiences have motivated me to work on myself and led me to pursue a career in counseling others through life’s challenges. In my free time I enjoy going to the gym, brazilian jiu jitsu, spending time with friends and family, skiing, traveling, and going to concerts.
I started Guide to Wellness Counseling Services in 2023 and I have had the privilege of serving over 40 clients (some couples and some individuals) and have held over 400 sessions and counting. I’ve had the honor of helping clients through various life struggles, such as, navigating the aftermath of divorce or breakups, addiction, eating disorders, ADHD, schizophrenia, homelessness, anxiety, and depression. I’ve also worked in a variety of settings such as, inpatient mental health facilities, detox centers, and in-home therapy working with families and children. You name it, I’ve probably helped someone through almost every issue that someone can go through in life. I will also offer appropriate referrals if I don’t believe that I can confidently address your specific needs. I utilize different evidenced based practices, such as, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution focused therapy, and gottman method couples therapy. My practice offers substance abuse evaluations if needed for drug court or other legal requirements. I also currently treat adults 18 and up and offer both in-person and virtual appointments.
If you think that we might be a good match and you schedule an appointment, I will work with you in identifying your individualized treatment plan which will be reviewed every 3 months to make sure that we are making progress towards your goals. We will also take our time getting to know each other (mostly me getting to know you) the first few sessions. You should also expect homework and specific skills to practice outside of our sessions. Think of me as your “guide” to reach overall wellness. Remember that you are not alone and I am here to listen, truly understand you, and push you to be the best version of yourself.
